Ocean Events, Presentations & Workshops

Incredible Oceans has brought the ocean to tens of thousands of people across the UK and Europe; at science festivals, music festivals, corporate events, community gatherings, conferences, and trade shows.
Whatever your event, whatever your audience, we have a format and a budget that fits.

We understand that organising events can be time-consuming & challenging.

That's where we come in. We specialise in reaching the people who weren't already looking for ocean content. Non-self-selecting audiences (ie people that don't identify as liking ocean or environmental content) are where we do our best work. We use creativity, humour, and storytelling to reach people who'd never normally engage with these issues and make them care.

Our approach is simple. We start with wonder; a creature, an object, a fact so strange it sounds made up. Once people are hooked, we're honest about what's at stake for our ocean, our climate, and our communities. But instead of dread, we leave them with something real: what conservation and research are doing about the issue, and what individual action they can take too.

Awe. Honesty. Hope.
Our approach is rooted in values-based communication and behaviour change methodology. We remember what made us fall in love with the ocean; it wasn't statistics about plastic. It was the animals! So that's where we start.

Since 2016, we have appeared in-person and online at hundreds of science festivals, music festivals, literature festivals, community festivals, theatre productions, international conferences, and trade shows across the UK, Europe, the Middle East, and the USA.

Why choose Incredible Oceans?

Event Experience

We have taken part in over 300 events, educating tens of thousands of people across the UK and Europe. We understand the pressures involved in putting on an event and are well-versed in making the process smooth, efficient, and stress-free.

Expertise

Our team brings together ocean scientists, conservationists, artists, campaigners, actors... That breadth gives every event a wide knowledge base and means we can speak credibly about ocean science, climate, biodiversity, and conservation, not just one corner of it.

Approachable

We are easy-going, responsive, and straightforward to work with. We love collaborating with other organisations and understand the value of combining forces, particularly in the environmental and sustainability space.

Environmental Social & Governance (ESG)

We help organisations meet their environmental and sustainability commitments in a way that genuinely engages audiences — not just ticks a box. Our events foster shared responsibility and community connection around ocean and climate issues.

Value

We offer tiered pricing for all our services, from small community events through to large international trade shows and festivals. Hire our all-weather pop-up Ocean Dome from as little as £300 per day.

Solutions-focussed

Much of the public conversation around the ocean and climate is overwhelming. We enthuse and empower audiences instead of depressing them. People leave our events having learned something real — and feeling like it matters.

Adaptable

We adapt every session to the audience. The same core content can be pitched to a primary school group, a corporate audience, or a festival crowd of thousands. Age and background never create a barrier.

Unique

We are the only organisation in Europe whose sole purpose is delivering ocean education and engagement - there's no collecting donations, subscriptions, or petition signatures. Our only agenda is genuine connection between people and the ocean.

Focused & Prepared

Everything we deliver is fully risk-assessed. We carry £5 million public liability insurance. We bring our own infrastructure, including The Ocean Dome; our unique custom-built pop-up ocean venue.

British

We are based on the 9th largest island on Earth, with productive seas and a rich maritime heritage. We're proud of it and alarmed that 1 in 5 children in the UK have never seen the sea. We celebrate what we have on our doorstep and make it accessible to everyone.

What we do

Festivals & community events: bringing the ocean to your audience

We arrive with everything needed to create an instant ocean experience including our travelling museum of ocean objects: a centrepiece orca skull, scrimshawed sperm whale teeth, shark jaws, a sawfish rostrum, megalodon tooth, fossils, shells, egg cases. These create instant wonder. Add our presentations, live demonstrations, hands-on workshops, and The Ocean Dome, and you have a full immersive ocean zone that works on a quayside, in a car park, in a shopping centre, on a beach or in a festival field.

The Ocean Dome

Our ocean dome is a versatile space that we use to host a variety of events and activities from our ocean presentations, science workshops and art exhibitions, to storytelling and DJ nights. The ocean dome allows us to create an instant immersive ocean zone anywhere, bringing a sense of occasion to events, and providing an eye-catching focal point.

The dome has a footprint of 6m x 6m and a height of 4.2m. It can be put up quickly almost anywhere - on beaches, in forests, in fields, shopping centres, quaysides, car parks, schools, playgrounds, inside, outside, on grass, concrete or sand. The dome is decorated with charismatic sea creatures designed by illustrator Giulia Di Amicis, and interspersed with literary quotes from famous ocean stories.

Built by exhibition tent specialists Axion UK, our dome is fully certified, and comes with £5 million of public liability insurance. It’s completely risk assessed and has even been tested to hurricane wind speeds.
Hire starts from £300 per day

Presentations: The Voice of the Ocean

We deliver interactive presentations on ocean, climate, conservation, and the extraordinary biology of sea creatures, adapted for any audience, from young families to adult festival-goers to corporate groups.
Our shows include:
Russell Arnott dressed as a pirate holding a sperm whale tooth and pointing to a whale in an exhibition space

Workshops & hands-on science: dive deeper

Our hands-on sessions help audiences connect ocean and climate issues to their own lives. Led by marine experts, these creative sessions are as much about curiosity as they are about content.

Workshops include: fish dissections, ocean chemistry, marine engineering, ocean plastic solutions, oil spill clean-up, and still-life drawing.

Workshops include:
  • Fish Dissections
  • Ocean Chemistry
  • Marine Engineering
  • Ocean Plastic Solutions
  • Oil Spill Clean-up
  • Orca skull still-life drawing
