That's where we come in. We specialise in reaching the people who weren't already looking for ocean content. Non-self-selecting audiences (ie people that don't identify as liking ocean or environmental content) are where we do our best work. We use creativity, humour, and storytelling to reach people who'd never normally engage with these issues and make them care.
Our approach is simple. We start with wonder; a creature, an object, a fact so strange it sounds made up. Once people are hooked, we're honest about what's at stake for our ocean, our climate, and our communities. But instead of dread, we leave them with something real: what conservation and research are doing about the issue, and what individual action they can take too.
Awe. Honesty. Hope.
Our approach is rooted in values-based communication and behaviour change methodology. We remember what made us fall in love with the ocean; it wasn't statistics about plastic. It was the animals! So that's where we start.
Since 2016, we have appeared in-person and online at hundreds of science festivals, music festivals, literature festivals, community festivals, theatre productions, international conferences, and trade shows across the UK, Europe, the Middle East, and the USA.
