Bringing together digital content producing and interview techniques, we broadcast over YouTube (and other social media channels) from a live studio location. Participants present their own videos and take questions from the host and from viewers online. Livestream broadcasts offer a high impact, low pressure, practice for participants to prepare for TV interviews and broadcasts. Additional positive outcomes include: increased skills and self-confidence amongst participating researchers; greater dissemination of ocean science content to online stakeholders; and, an online archive of presentations allowing viewer to continue to watch long after the event.

Why a livestream?

When it comes to livestreams, the knee-jerk is to output a powerpoint presentation over Zoom with the speaker unceremoniously speaking from their office. Organisations go one better and can film live lectures via Panopto (or similar), but these are often filmed poorly, have low sound quality, and are devoid of audience interaction as well as appearing somewhat wooden. Our livestreams offer a high-quality duel-camera output that audiences will actually enjoy watching and can interact with, allowing a sense of occasion during the live broadcast and a useful online resource that will be accessed into the future.

Josh Barker

Having cut his teeth documenting comedy shows through the pandemic, Josh Barker quickly made a name for himself as the go-to producer for high-quality and easily implemented livestream outputs. With Russell Arnott acting as host, and Ian Rowlands as stage manager, their friendly demeanours puts guests at ease and while ensure the production runs smoothly.
