Working with government

As part of a consortium funded by the UK government’s NERC (Natural Environment Research Council) we partnered with seven institutions* to train early career ocean researchers in innovative public engagement techniques. We linked them with community and arts organisations in order to co-design outreach activities, including an arts initiative with Rame Peninsula Beach Care and artist Rob Arnold that focussed on ocean plastics.

The work was demonstrated at Plymouth Pirates Weekend in May 2018. For an event in July in Oban researchers paired with artists Jessica Giannotti of Crubag and Templar Arts and Leisure Centre (TALC) to create visual and sound installations to illustrate their science.
